Slurry pump for Iron Ore Processing Project

Slurry pump for Iron Ore Processing Project
Application:Transfer pump, tailing pump, feed pump
Pump Configuration:EHM-4D
Time:2009
Project Description
Surrounded by sea, Indonesia has rich marine mineral resources along the coastline and in the sea,
such as high-quality iron ore, tin ore, and gold ore. The slurry delivery solution was designed and
completed by Excellence Pump. In this project, the ore would be first transported to working site.
After mixing the ore with water, the mixture would be transported by excellence pump to
magnetic separator for wet concentration.

Analysis and confirmation of parameters
Capacity: 180m³/h
Head: 7m
Slurry specific gravity: 1.4
Concentration by weight: 40%

Solution
Excellence has selected suitable pump models according to customer's demand.
Pump selection:EHM-4D
Motor selection:Y200L2-6 22 kW

After-Service
It was the first time that the client invested in mineral industry. Therefore, there were some
problems in the application due to inexperience in preparing and management. Excellence
engineer was sent to Indonesia to remove problems at the request of client. He successfully
found that the problem lay in the oversight of suction lift. The project now is running smoothly
after the client installed the slurry pump under the direction of engineer. They are very
satisfied with our product and service. Now, we are working together on another project.

Read more:Coal Price and Electricity Price Linkage

China has officially confirmed one-year linkage between coal price and electricity price, which
aroused public curiosity about the possible drop of the electricity price.

NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) has announced that there would be
some adjustments of the electricity price such as lowering the benchmark price of sulfur-free powerplant.
However, the price adjustment is rather the result of environment conservation than the price linkage according
 to International Finance News reporter.

In addition, the official also put forward another issue about gas power generation, which is raise the price of
electricity generated by natural gas to relieve pressure posed by high price of imported gas. Electricity price
increase can not only encourage the percentage of gas power generation, but also subsidize the enterprise.

When purchasing slurry pumps

You can save a lot of time if you know the following terms when purchasing slurry pumps. Here are some of most common terms that would come up during your buying process.
Head (H): A measure of the energy possessed by water at a given location in the water system
expressed in feet of head for centrifugal slurry pumps; (2) a measure of the pressure or force exerted by water expressed in feet.
Capacity (Q): A measure of the liquid volume capacity of a slurry pump.
NPSH:
Net Positive Suction Head Available (NPSHa): The NPSHa available to prevent cavitation of the pump. To calculate the NPSHa, you take the [Static Suction Head] plus [Suction Vessel Surface Pressure Head] minus [vapor pressure of your product] minus [friction losses in the suction piping, valves and fittings].
- Net Positive Suction Head Required (NPSHr): The NPSHr to stop a pump from cavitating. The NPSHr is generally supplied to you by the slurry pump manufacturer.
Efficiency: A ratio of total power output to the total power input, expressed as a percent.
Pressure: The force exerted on the walls of a pipe by a liquid. Normally measured in pounds per square inch (psi).
Viscosity: A measure of a liquid’s resistance to flow. Essentially it’s a how thick the liquid is. The viscosity determines the type of pump used, the speed it can run at, and with gear pumps, the internal clearances required.
Slurry Characteristics Parameters:
Concentration by weight (Cw): The concentration by weight reflects the percent ratio of the mass of dissolved solids to the total mass of the solution.
Concentration by volume (Cv): The concentration by weight reflects the percent ratio of the volume of dissolved solids to the total volume of the solution.
Specific Gravity (SG): The ratio of the weight of a given volume of liquid to pure water. Pumping heavy liquids (specific gravity greater than 1.0) will require more horsepower.
There are other parameters should be take into consideration such as particle size, pH and temperature, etc.
Suction head: Condition that occurs when the liquid source is above the centerline of the pump.
Suction lift: Condition that occurs when the liquid source is below the centerline of the pump.
Pump performance curve: A diagram provided to explain the relationship between the head and the flow rate of a slurry pump using various size impellers. The curve also includes efficiency, NPSH required, and horse power consumption as a function of flow.

A Pump’s Role in Safe Chemical Transfer

A Pump’s Role in Safe Chemical Transfer: “One important point is the compatibility of the material with the chemical,” “The second factor is, if we use solvents, for example, we must use the appropriate chemical process slurry pump that won’t cause an ignition. This means using Chemical slurry pumps with electric conductive material. The third factor is suction capability.”

In Europe, the most important legislation introduced in recent years has been Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals—better known as REACH. Implemented in June 2007 by the European Union, REACH replaced 40 existing directives. There are 73 substances on the Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) candidate list. The regulation puts greater responsibility on the industry to manage the risks of chemicals and provide safety information on the substances. However, REACH remains a work in progress.

One other way that the chemical industry is creating a safer environment is through certifications. Equipment must meet certain standards to gain certification and must be considered safe to handle known dangerous chemicals—such as acids, solvents and caustics. In the past, the CE symbol was the recognized symbol for safety. The CE marking or formerly EC mark, is a mandatory conformity marking for products sold in the European Economic Area since 1993. The CE marking is the manufacturer's declaration that the product meets the requirements of the applicable EC directives. Therefore, Excellence centrifugal slurry Pumps can develop freely in EU market by obtaining the CE certification. On the other side, we can export our products to Europe even worldwide and ensure the normal promotion to any country in EU.

Ralated Article: Gravel pump for Mineral processing

Series ES(G) gravel pumps are horizontal and single-casing centrifugal pumps. The type ESG pumps are with high-head. The pumps work with various speeds and ensure a long life, which meet the different requirements on hard transporting conditions.

ES series  Gravel pump structure
Construction of this series of pumps is of single casing connected by means of clamp bands and they have wide passage. The wet parts are made of Ni-hard and high-Chrome wear-resistant alloys. The discharge direction of pump can be oriented in any direction of 360°. They have advantages of easy installation, good performance of NPSH and
wear-resistance.

Material advantage
The main wear parts in slurry pump are wet parts. Excellence adopts many kinds of anti-abrasive materials to extend the lifetime of wet parts.

The wet parts material in standard ES series pump is high chrome alloy KmTBCr26, which is a wear resistant white iron that offers excellent performance under erosive conditions. But in order to meet different requirements, Excellence can also produce wet parts in other materials to replace high chrome alloy such as Hastelloy, CD4MCu, and other anti-abrasive materials.

Application
Gravel pumps are designed for continuously handling the higher abrasive slurry, which contain too big particles to be pumped by common pumps. Gravel pump are suitable for delivering slurry in mining, explosive-sludge in metallurgy, sand mining, dredging, and other fields.
